The Surgeon
Panagiotis P. Papadopoulos MD, MSc is an Orthopaedic Surgeon and Sports Medicine specialist, Deputy Director of the 3rd Orthopaedic Clinic at HYGEIA Hospital. He is subspecialised in arthroscopic and open surgery of the shoulder and knee, sports injuries, reconstructive surgery and modern combined biological therapies.
Biography
With international fellowship training, clinical experience at leading medical centres and a continuous presence at scientific congresses, he applies current techniques in shoulder and knee surgery, sports injuries and biological therapies.
Fellowship Training
He completed his subspecialty training at one of the world’s leading centres for shoulder surgery — the Centre Orthopédique Santy in Lyon, France, a FIFA Medical Centre of Excellence — where he obtained his Shoulder Clinical Fellowship under the guidance of internationally recognised surgeons.
The Years in France
During his fellowship he also worked at the Hôpital Privé Jean Mermoz, gaining practical experience in specialist shoulder procedures, complex rotator cuff pathology, instability, fracture management and high-complexity revision arthroplasty techniques, under internationally recognised surgeons.
Congresses
He has presented scientific papers, surgical techniques and clinical data at numerous congresses in Greece and abroad, contributing to the dissemination of modern arthroscopic surgery and the minimally invasive approach to sports injuries and shoulder pathology. He has also served as an instructor to younger doctors in current surgical techniques across the full range of shoulder pathology.
Practices
He maintains a private practice in minimally invasive surgery in Glyfada and Marousi, while also serving as a physician at the 3rd Orthopaedic Clinic of the HYGEIA and MITERA private hospitals, and at the Athens Centre for Arthroscopy and Shoulder Surgery.
3rd Orthopaedic Clinic
Since 2025 he has held the position of Deputy Director of the 3rd Orthopaedic Clinic at HYGEIA Hospital, taking an active part in the running of the clinic, the development of treatment protocols and the management of complex cases.
Scientific Collaborations
He is an active member of the Athens Shoulder Institute and a scientific associate of the Athens Medical Laser Center in Glyfada.
